TOM: An alternative to fuzzy dice
Here’s a tip straight from the Tips & Tech Workshop for you kustom builders with a flair for nostalgia. Fuzzy dice hanging from the rearview mirror were once a prerequisite, but baby shoes were another popular item. It’s a tiny detail in 1/25 scale that could add a memorable finishing touch.

First, find a suitable HO scale model railroad figure (Woodland Scenics has many). If your figure is on a base, trim it as shown. Cut the shoes from the legs.

Hollow out the top of the shoe with a micro-drill bit and pinch the top just a enough to get rid of the round look of the shoe. Use superglue to attach the lace, which can be made from fine wire, thread, or even a piece of hair! Whatever you use, be sure to keep it in scale.

Hang the completed shoes from your mirror, and you’re ready to kruize.
