Unwarping bodies

Tip: Here is my preferred method of “unwarping bodies.”  If the warped body has no detail or ridges on its lower portion, drill holes through the body then screw in squarely onto a piece of scrap wood in the “unwrapped” position.

Medium density fiberboard works well and is dimensionally stable. Place the body in a dehydrator for a few hours, take it out and transport it straight into the freezer.

The heat from the dehydrator relaxes the body while the thermal shock of the freezer sets it into the square position. Then remove the screws and fill the holes.

This method is more precise and there’s less chance of overdoing it than when using hot water and twisting the body by hand.
