Whitening toothpaste

SCATT1216_C
Quick Tip #1: Whitening toothpaste can work well as a rubbing compound. The abrasive material it contains is mild enough to not damage a painted model.

Ken: Right you are, Sergio. In fact, before the advent of modern polishing compounds, toothpaste was used by many of us “older” modelers in the 1950s and 1960s to rub out our early attempts at painting.

This technique has almost been lost to history, so thanks for reminding us that it’s still a viable option.

As with any abrasive product, be careful not to rub through the paint.
