Stretched sprue technique

Tip: In the August 2013 “Tips & Tech,” Dale Wilkerson asked about making bull horns to mount on a hood. I made a pair of bull horns for my Scout model from a piece of stretched sprue.

I heated and stretched the sprue to a shape I was happy with, then added a piece of tissue paper in the center of the horns. The tissue paper was soaked in white glue, and painted after the unit was dry. It was fairly easy to make.

The horns can also be made from  separate pieces of sprue, then glued together when you are satisfied with them. Thanks for a great modeling magazine, and keep up the great work,
