Taking small amounts of paint out of bottles

RELATED TOPICS: PAINT
Tip: I have never offered a tip before, but would like to repay the generosity of others by sharing one.

Instead of using pipettes for taking small amounts of paint out of bottles, I use a straw.

It works by a principle of physics I can’t really explain, but you dip the straw into the paint, and put your finger over the top of the straw, which traps the air, creating a vacuum. The paint will stay in the straw as you lift it out and deposit it into a palette.

This works best where you have a need for a lot of paint, but if you are careful it can be used for small amounts as well, by using a smaller straw.

I also use empty contact-lens packaging for paint mixing.

Thanks to Scale Auto for always sharing great ideas, and providing inspiring articles and photographs!
