If you enjoyed building JoHan kits as a kid and you're feeling nostalgic, this stock wagon is the kit for you.

This is your basic slammer kit, so there are no features like opening hood or doors. My kit was molded in rose-colored plastic, so I decided to paint the model black like the one in the box art. I then added gold and chrome foil trim and sealed everything with a PPG clear coat. The windows needed some minor trimming but then fit well.

The three-piece interior tub need a couple of minor alterations: cleanup where the dash attaches and removal of some material on the bottom of the tub so the rear (wire) axle clears properly.

The chassis plate has no detail, so I painted it flat black. I replaced the kit's blackwall tires with whitewalls from my parts box.

Chrome parts include the luggage rack and bumpers. Some cleanup was necessary on the rack, but the bumpers are well-detailed and look great. All I had to do was paint the headlights, directional lights, and grille for a realistic look.

Final assembly involved gluing the tub to the chassis, installing the bumpers, and screwing the assembly together.

Detailing is the most important part of the kit. If you take the time to detail the Rambler, you'll be extremely satisfied with the completed model.
