Thinning nail polish

Published: June 1, 2004
Q: I've been painting and practicing with a Paasche airbrush. I want to use nail polish because of the variety of colors, but my first attempt did not work well. The paint came out too thick and the result was a very heavy coat of paint with severe orange peel. Since the nail polish was enamel, I thinned it with mineral spirits, which did nothing to the paint, and actually make it separate. Can you tell me how to use and thin this paint?
